Aloha Friday: Favorite Food Sneaking
All this week, I’ve been featuring recipes by Missy Lapine – aka The Sneaky Chef. We’ve snuck yams, carrots and wheat germ into bon bons, cauliflower and zucchini into eggs, and we shall soon sneak yams and carrots into macaroni and cheese.
My question for you is this: What meal would you like to sneak a little extra nutrition into for your child or another picky family member?
Thanks to Kailani at An Island Life for starting this fun for Friday. Please be sure to head over to her blog to say hello and sign the MckLinky there if you are participating.
Aloha #13
Nobody in my family is picky. It it’s food, it’s eaten. Well, on second thought, none of us will eat beets or weird stuff like octopus.

I am getting pretty good at sneaking stuff in. My daughter is the pickiest eater. I swear it is because I jinxed myself. My best friend and her daughter are so picky and I am always telling them they need to try stuff and it is just ridiculous how few things they will actually eat. Well, my talk backfired on me because my daughter is the same way. She is all over the cauliflower mac and cheese!

I’m not having to sneak as much in these days. My sister told me once that she threatened our niece w/ a way to force her to eat & since I told my kids, voila! No more arguing.
My kids eat very well so I don’t have to sneak anything into meals. they love veggies, isn’t that great???

Spaghetti, my daughter love spaghetti. If I could make vegetable meatballs that tasted great, that would be awesome!

Anywhere I could get the extra nutrients in would be nice.

breakfast of course, by dinner time we are just too tired. And she eat lunch at school.
Maybe some green veggies into my daughters cheeseburgers. Anytime we go to a restaurant, she wants a cheeseburger and fries.
My family, thankfully will and does eat everything. I have always had great eaters and as teens they excel at eating.

@Mrs. Marine
I believe that Missy’s book has a recipe for meatballs which include wheat germ and spinach.
@Laufa
Like with the meatballs, I think The Sneaky Chef books have a hamburger recipe with spinach in the burgers. She also has a cheese fries recipe where cauliflower is hidden in the cheese sauce.
I’m very envious of all of you who have kids who eat anything. Lately, NHL’s food rejection seems to be not because he doesn’t like the food, but just because he wants to exert power over us. Even if I’m making pizza, he can say no and force me to make him something else. Of course, that “forcing me” bit is in his mind only. Not gonna happen! Still, he stubbornly tries.
I don’t really have to sneak it in..my little man eats pretty well!
Every meal? lol. I have a picky 3 year-old. Meal times are oh, so much fun. ;P
Happy Aloha Friday!

I would love to sneak in more nutrition in our lunches. I typically make a sandwich for lunch and serve with a fruit and chips. I’d love something fast, easy and nutritious.
I do have picky eaters, one in particular, and he will raise his eyebrows or scrunch up his nose at almost anything. Aloha.

I’d like to get my hubby to eat some vegetables. He only eats corn or green beans. Nothing else! I LOVE salad so I think it’d be a miracle if I could get him to eat that.

i like to add wheat germ and flaxseed to meatloaf my family can’t tell the difference 🙂
We really do try to keep all our meals nutritious, but I do have a grandson who hates vegetables so we have to mix them into stews and soups to make sure he gets enough.
