Happy Valentine’s Day To My Beautiful Wife

The past few days have been rough ones at our house.  JSL has come down with a stomach bug that’s got him… well let’s just say both ends are experiencing unexpected exiting procedures.  So our days have been packed with worry over JSL and our nights (with JSL invading our bed) are just packed.

Needless to say, this isn’t going to be a very romantic Valentine’s Day.

Still, I wanted to send this message to the woman I love.

Also, Happy Valentine’s Day to JC Little, aka Little Animation, the creator of Pickle Weasel.

A Musical, Light Filled Holiday

During our recent trip to Disney World, we were able to see the The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Hollywood Studios.  It was amazing seeing the millions of lights everywhere.  And then the music turned on and the lights danced.

Here’s wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

The Tastiest Decoration in Disney World

Sure, you can go to Disney World and look at the decorations.

You can see the various trees.

Along with the wide array of ornaments on them.

But there’s one "decoration" that smells fantastic and is actually edible.  I’m talking about the gingerbread house in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

house

This is no ordinary gingerbread house, though.  Check out their ingredients list.

recipe

I’m a big fan of any recipe that includes 700 pounds of chocolate.

There were, of course, little extra-Disney touches here and there like the scenes just above the windows.

The house smelled fantastic.  And, just to make things better, they were selling pieces of it.  Ok, maybe not actual pieces, but they were selling gingerbread cooked from the same recipe as the house.

Sadly, the line was too long for us to wait on it at the time.  If it tasted half as good as it smelled, though, it must have been fantastic gingerbread.

This is a yearly event so if you ever find yourself in Disney World in December, make sure to head to the Grand Floridian to check out the giant gingerbread house.

Aloha Friday: Apocalypse-Mas

Today’s the big day.  The day the world’s supposed to end.  Of course, by "supposed to", I mean not supposed to at all.  The whole Mayan world-ending apocalypse is based off a gross-misreading of the Mayan calendar.  Short explanation: The "ending" is the same as your 2012 calendar ending on December 31st.  Your calendar ending doesn’t mean that the world is ending.  It just means that it is time to get a new calendar.  (For a longer explanation, visit Phil Plait’s Bad Astronomy site.)

Of course, the other world-ending event that is coming soon is Christmas.  Ok, this one is only world-ending if you haven’t purchased all of the gifts you need to buy and must visit the mall.  After fighting for a parking spot for a half hour or more, you might start wishing the Mayan Apocalypse were real.

My Aloha Friday question for today is: Have you gotten all of your holiday shopping done or will you be braving the Apocalypse that is the mall at Christmas-time?

As a bonus, here’s JibJab’s Year In Review, aka 2012, The End Is Here!

Aloha Friday: Parades

A couple of days ago, I received an e-mail from my cousin stating that he and his kids were going to be marching in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade.  I knew I wasn’t going to be able to see it live, so I DVRed it for later.  My kids, however, love watching parades and were able to see it live.  NHL said he was able to spot my cousin’s kids.

Upon watching the DVRed footage, though, I couldn’t spot them, but I was able to spot my cousin (dressed as a hockey referee).

My Aloha Friday question for today is: Did you watch the Thanksgiving Day Parade?
